RSE Club Report – New Year, New Running Challenge!

Gloucestershire County XC Championships – Cotswold Farm Park

Starting in the bumpy fields, athletes ran a medium lap around ruins ground and Barton bushes. They then completed 2 large laps including the field north of Gorse valley finishing again in bumpy fields. Conditions were as expected of a cross country race, very muddy in places! But the sun was shining for the senior male race.

David Witnall ran for Running Somewhere Else, finishing the 9.5k course in a great time of 41:05!

Great fun as usual- it’s not about the position or finish times. It’s for the challenge and the grind that cross country offers. Club members should give it a go just once. It’s not as bad as you think!!

Dave Witnall

Brilliant running, Dave!

Fladbury Festive 5

This 5 mile multi-terrain race takes place along the banks of the River Avon. Runners cross through Fladbury Village and Lower Moor in Worcestershire for a mainly off-road race. Only in its 8th year, Fladbury Festive 5 has become popular amongst local runners, particularly for the free gift and refreshments at the end of the run!

Liz Hulcup took on the challenge and finished in a brilliant unofficial time of 55:11, coming first her age category!

It was actually 5.5 miles, mainly trail run, so muddy, and a nasty cold wind …

Liz Hulcup

Well done, Liz!
