Championship 2018 – Endurance Expert Round 1

Hi all,

Today saw the first club race of 2018, which was the Staverton 10 mile. This is part of the Endurance Expert Championship.

For those who haven’t seen, this years championship has changed, and is now made up of 2 parts, the Endurance Expert championship, which includes races with distances from 10 miles to marathon, and the Short Stuff specialist championship, which includes races with distances from 1 mile to 10km. There will be an overall championship, to qualify for this you must complete 4 races from each section.

8 runners competed today, 4 men and 4 women. The first man home for the club, was Tom Cooper, just pipping Russell Young for the 10 points. So a great start to the men’s competition! Men’s points were awarded as follows

  1. Tom Cooper 10 points,
  2. Russell Young 9 points
  3. Jack Pitcher 8 points
  4. Andy Masser 7 points

The first lady home was Nadine Brown, again another close race for the top spot. Ladies points as follows

  1. Nadine Brown 10 points
  2. Elaine Chapman 9 points
  3. Sharon Smith 8 points
  4. Sarah Reynolds 7 points

So a great start to the championship season, it looks like there will be some exciting races ahead to grab those top points.

Special mention to Tom and Sarah for both competing in their first club championship race, great to have you guys running for us.

The next race is the Wiltshire 10 in Melksham, Feb 11th, again an Endurance expert race.

Happy Running all!

Elaine, Club Captain

Cotswold Way 2018

Hi all,

You may have already seen, (in fact some have already signed up!) that I have put a sign up sheet for the Cotswold way up at club. I’m hoping to get enough people to get at least 2 teams again this year. I believe the date is 30th June 2018.

For those who don’t know what the Cotswold way is, it is an event we’ve enjoyed running the last few years. It’s a 10 stage relay across the Cotswold way, starting at Chipping Camden and finishing at Bath. Each stage varies in length, the shortest being about 11km, the longest about 21km. Each leg has it’s challenges, but all take in the most beautiful scenery. It’s well worth doing. If you’re interested in doing a leg, come and sign up, or speak to myself or any of the committee for more information.
