RSE Club Report – Chester, Chippenham and Cross Country!

Chippenham Spring 10 Mile

Starting and finishing in Monkton Park, Chippenham, the race follows quiet country roads around the village. The course is listed as ‘predominantly flat’, although our RSE runners didn’t quite agree with that statement!

Congratulations to Elliot Gardiner, Zoe Markham-Lee and Mark Garrett for completing the course!

  • Elliot Gardiner – 1:17:45 – A New PB!
  • Mark Garrett – 1:17:56
  • Zoe Markham-Lee – 1:35:27 – A New PB

A new DB max race route and a new 10 mile race PB 🤩🏅 Not quite ‘pan flat’ as advertised, especially the bridge over the railway at about mile 8! 🥵 So I was very pleased to get another PB at this distance. Thanks to Mark Garrett for pushing me along in mile 9 👍🏻

Elliot Gardiner

As Elliott said on Strava, it wasn’t as flat as we thought!

Chester 10k

Tipped as a fast course, the Chester 10k passes some iconic sights, including Chester racecourse, the historic Victorian town hall, Medieval Cathedral and Eastgate Clock. The flat, wide roads make this a perfect event for runners chasing a time.

Well done to Felicity Crotty, who ran the course alongside her cousin, and earnt a very awesome looking medal!

Felicity finished in a brilliant time of 1:01:39!

Gloucestershire AAA Cross Country

After last weekends final Gloucestershire Cross country meeting at Old Down, the race series results have been collated and we can announce that Paul Beaumont has jointly won the V70 Championship!

This years Cross country series has been, as expected, run in some tough conditions. The mud of Cirencester park in November, the wind at Pittville park in February and the hills of Old Down last weekend. Well done Paul for representing the club (sometimes solo) and winning in your age category. Let’s hope for more club success in the next series starting again in November.

David Witnall, Club Captain

Fantastic running, Paul! Well done!

First Aid Course

Well done to the RSE club members who completed and passed the first aid course this weekend. Lead by Phil from Cotswold First Aid, club members were taught the fundamentals of emergency first aid, plus a few running-orientated extras (think sprained ankles!).

It may have been fun and games to patch each other up on the day, but our club members are now prepared (if ever needed) during club sessions.

If you would like a run or race included in the club report, don’t forget to message Ellie Taylor by 5pm Sunday each week 🙂
