    “If you want to run a good marathon, you must work at your 10k and half marathon times. You can’t just do a 12wk marathon training program and expect to run well”

    He missed the point about people just wanting to do the distance rather than achieve a fast time.  Lots of people out there enjoy racing for its own sake…

    ( but I did enjoy the interview)

    Maybe, he’s an ex pro. But the point he was making is why so many first timers end up walking. Surely much more fun and less pain if you prepare properly. Hence why I won’t be running Yorkshire on Sunday.
