And today’s report from our desert trekker Laura Maddison:

Hello, still alive. Feet not too bad – decided to go with just one pair of socks today which worked well in the heat. Little toes are sore and toes next to big toes have got little blisters, but my worst blister is on my left ankle – at the bottom of my calf guard where a roll of ankle fat has rubbed against the cuff.
Had a slightly grumbly tummy today, probably from drinking 5 bottles of Nuun a day and not having any fresh fruit or veg… But apart from that(and an achy back and shoulders) I’m doing really well!
Brian got a thorn through the bottom of his shoe into his foot – tried to get it out with the tiny tweezers on my knife which didn’t work, but we were saved by a chap carrying a 30kg pack who happened to have a giant pair of pliers. Nutter.
Apparently it was 41.5 degrees in the shade today and 10% humidity, no surprise that we’re all knackered!
Long day tomorrow so you won’t hear from me, but don’t worry – it should be fine. Just going to take it steady and prob stop for a meal half way. Love Lx

Don’t forget now peeps – you can send Laura a message via the MDS website (She’s 706): http://www.marathondessables.com/en/live/write-to-a-competitor.html

But more importantly you can still visit her Just Giving page to support the work of Swindon’s excellent Prospect Hospicehttp://www.justgiving.com/sumoeddie

    You know you want to
