Running Off the Rails

There was some great running in the sunshine over the weekend, including a few longer races. Well done all.

Bristol & Bath Railway 50K

Ben MUTLOW 05:05:12

“So it’s a Sunday morning which can only mean one thing, let’s run a 50k 😂. I booked to do the Bath & Bristol Railway 50k Ultra, which is a return journey along the railway path, a lovely flat route and easy to navigate as just follow the signs!
I managed to complete the race which was a relief, resulting in my 2nd best ever time and fastest for over 6 years. A great organised event and one I would recommend to anyone!”      – Ben Mutlow

Dell Half Marathon

Elaine CHAPMAN 02:12:46

“My April half. Found this small event and gave it a go. Absolutely loved it. Beautiful race in the sunshine, proper trail race with plenty of climbs, wooded sections, bluebells, windy paths and lovely views. Really friendly atmosphere, had lots of chats, and great support from marshal’s too. And to top it off a pint of beer at the end which I very much enjoyed!!!
I was disappointed at first with my time when I saw it, but then saw it was over 1000ft of elevation and ended up quite pleased! I was 5th in my age group, and 13/46 woman which isn’t too shabby. I would recommend this to all trail race lovers. And beer lovers, Ben had a good day too!”                                                                     – Elaine Chapman

Martley Madness

Cherie EDWARDS 01:39:00

“This was the inaugural event of the Martley Madness, hosted by Worcestershire Trailblazers. Described as a 10 mile scenic trail race, I knew there would be some hills involved! My friend lives in Martley hence why we’d signed up but unfortunately is injured and was unable to take part today. We’d run the course back in January so I was prepared for the elevation (read: snack and walk breaks!) and thankfully it was a bit drier and warmer today. It’s a beautiful route with sections of the Martley Circular and Worcestershire Way. I crossed fields of bright yellow rapeseed, through an orchard, up onto the ridgeway, into bluebell woods, past clumps of wild garlic and with spectacular far-reaching views. It was well marked with regular marshalls and two water stations, then at the end there was cake! (The main reason I’d signed up obviously 😂) Highly recommend if you like trail running in beautiful places, it’s only about an hours drive from Cirencester.”                           – Cherie Edwards

Manchester Marathon

Paul ROBERTSON 04:12:29

“3rd time at Manchester Marathon and sadly possibly the last as I want to try new adventures. The event is massive, it’s fun, it’s inclusive and one that should be on your to do list. No marathon PB for me today but a Course PB which I’m very happy with. Always grateful for all the messages of support from RSE that I get before races, I cannot thank you all enough – roll in Shakespeare Marathon on Sunday!”        – Paul Robertson
