Gloucestershire AAA Road Series Awards Evening

Mick Bagot :”I usually don’t do results or race reports but because I’m happy to be one of the RSE team who got county medals this year in the Gloucs AAA Road Race Series . The series is over 12 races of different distances from a mile to half marathon over the course of a year .
I managed to win a bronze for the series and individual county gold and silver medals in specific distance nominated county races .
I also want to celebrate 2 club treasures in Sharon who was gold series winner, and Sue who was bronze series winner. I’m sure Sharon also won every race she entered and so all 3 of the nominated specific distance races and Sue was not far behind. Awesome .
I want to thank Steve (my manager and without whom I would never have got to the right start line on time ) and the whole RSE county team, Steve, Zoe, Sue, Sharon, Paul B, Gemma , Jon C, Jade and Rebecca,(sorry if I’ve forgotten anyone) who also slogged through the whole series. “

Dave Witnall : “A race with everything! The Hill, mud, winding fast wooded sections, puddles through the middle of fields and great running community spirit.
First race back in a year absence, happy i stuck to the race plan, and came home with the important negative split!”
Paul Robertson :” Today’s lesson – Delete the words “I hate trail running” with “ok that wasn’t that bad”! Muddy, wet and tough and with a name of Lungbuster – well that hill (twice) lives up to that name. Great to be out with fellow RSE runners again and awesome to see the return of Dave. I may just manage one trail race a year from now on…”
Jade Beaumont: “This is definitely the muddiest race I’ve ever done and is great fun in places! (Although I’ll take a road race over that any day!) The race has a really steep hill which you get the pleasure of going up twice! The second time round was nearly impossible to stay upright given the pouring rain and how slippy it had got from the footfall. The medal is really nice though and there’s cake at the end so definitely some positives! Really pleased to have got round quite a bit quicker than last year aswell and in far more challenging conditions! Well done to all the other RSE runners because it wasn’t an easy one!”
Paul Beaumont: “I wanted to do this race after I read about it in the race report last year. Was a little bit concerned that I might take a wrong turn but the marshalling was so good, there was no chance of doing that. My only regret is that had to focus on where my feet were so much sometimes, that I didn’t take in some of the great scenery as much as I would have liked.”
Sarah Page: “What a muddy wet run but surprisingly good fun! Slippy conditions and of course it rained during the race- I was pleased to stay on my feet for once! Cheerful marshalling, good cake and coffee at the end.
Great to see plenty of yellow vests out there today and thanks Carol for your supporting”
Sara Juggins: “It was really muddy very wet and the puddles were fantastic.”
Zoe Markham-Lee :”Elaine excelled herself on choosing this as the first club race of the year. I’m on my second shower and still finding mud. Luckily Sharon was so far in front of me, she didn’t hear my screams. Sodden feet and sleet topped it all off. Billed as a 9 mile race, but definitely nearer 10. Well, at least it was 2 miles less than the ‘Terminator’. There’s always a positive. Lovely medal, well organised and nice marshals.”
Felicity Crotty:”Everyone makes a big deal about the lungbuster hill… however that was the least worst part of the whole race! (And we did it twice). Never again, but lovely marshals, organisation and cake!”
Darren Jenner: ” Had a wipeout on the route but pleased with the time.”
