10/8/25 Race Report

Bugatti 10k

https://www.entrycentral.com/bugatti10k

Set around a single 10k loop of largely quiet country roads, the race takes place on an August Wednesday evening. The course starts with a sharp descent followed by an equally sharp incline before settling into a largely rolling first third. The middle section is very flat before the course starts to undulate again towards a largely inclining final kilometre.

Sharon Smith: 00.48.48  1st LV 75

Felicity: It has been a couple of years since I’d run this race and I wanted to see if there was any improvement from the last time (even with the big hill at the end). I managed to complete the race in just over 62 min which was surprising as that was over 8 minutes quicker!! And 6 min quicker than wye valley a couple of weeks ago. The big hill at the end wasn’t as bad as I remembered it either!! Nice to see team RSE doing well in the AAAs too.

Hart Relay

Home – The Hart 4 – A scenic trail relay in the heart of Hampshire.

Three RSE teams competed in the Hart relay. Each team of four runners raced a 4k undulating course weaving in and out of woodland. The teams had 4 hours to compete as many laps as possible – some teams did 12 laps some did 10. Great achievements all round.

Anne Gardiner: A big event – over 170 teams took part. There was a great atmosphere. In between our individual runs we chatted and snacked under the RSE gazebo. Our team initially thought that our faster runners, Jon and Sharon, would fit in a 4th lap, but then realized that we were only going to complete 12 laps i.e 3 per runner, in the 4 hours, so Jon took off his chip and did Anna’s 3rd lap with her. Sharon did the same and accompanied me on my final lap – a great team effort! It was an excellent event; I’d do it again.

Carol Sworn: I’m a bit biased but this is a fantastic event hosted by my previous club, Hart Road Runners. Andy and I teamed up with our niece and nephew, Joe and Jasmin, to make team ‘Relatively Speedy’. We managed to complete 11 laps in the given time and all really enjoyed it. It was lovely to have 3 teams made up of RSE runners and family competing, think all had a great day out with friendly competition and a lovely picnic to share both during the event and after…..a winning combination!

Mary Shepherd: What a fabulous event. It was a hot day, trail running through woods which gave us some shade. Great company lots of fun. Loved it.

Club News

Delighted to welcome a new club member – little Louis Witnall. Fantastic to see Dave out coaching on Monday and to hear that Louis was the star attraction at Fora on Saturday. As always, Ellie and Dave are clearly taking it all in their stride!
