Another great weekend of running with two more club members achieving their 10th 10k.
The AVR Wiltshire Half marathon
A chilly and hilly half marathon, run in support of the Wiltshire Air Ambulance, was braved by a few of our runners this weekend who enjoyed a well supported event. Congratulations go to everyone who took part and particularly to the close and exciting competition between runners; Jack Pitcher gun time 1:34:06.7, chip time 1:34:02.4 (PB)and Mamunul (Mam) Wahid gun time 1:34:08.8, chip time 1:34:01.2(PB). Well done too and again a close competition, to Nadine Brown 1:45:51.1(PB by over 5mins) and Emily Jefferies 1:45:57.7. Fantastic running with some great achievements, well done to everyone.
Another 10k to add to the different 10k’s completed by club members this year. A two loop, relatively flat and fast course along some beautiful country lanes. Congratulations to Matt Lambourne 38:56 and Martin(Ted) Pitts 46:39 (10th 10K) and also to supporters Kirsty and Cat on a cold, frosty and crisp morning.
Gloucester 10km Run
Unfortunately the chip timing system went down and we are waiting for manual times. Despite this, great running from Janet Daniels 54:39(PB) and Laura Butler(10th 10k). Congratulations to you both.
For the Two Tunnels finale we need a 60 person strong marshal team to cover the 13 miles worth of countryside and city centre route around Bath. We know that runners know what runners want and what runners need better than anyone else, which is why we are emailing you!
If you are not already running, can you help with the marshalling? We are looking for runners to volunteer on the day to help deliver the race; direct the way and man the feed stations. The times would be from 08:15 – 10:00am until 14:00 – 16:00 depending on where you are on the course. We always look after our marshals and our runners always say what a great team of people we have supporting our events.
In return, we can offer either
4 FREE 10km races with us during the next 12 months
2 FREE Half Marathon races with us in the next 12 months
1 Free Marathon race with us in the next 12 months
Free marshals places can be used by yourself, family or friends. If you would like to help out, please send an email to email@example.com with your name, mobile number, and your availability. We would love to hear from you!
Two Tunnels 10km
The final event sees a full compliment of races; 300m and 1 Mile Colourburst, 5km and 10km, City Half Marathon and City Marathon, and the 50km Solo and Relay races, all taking in the fantastic Two Tunnels route through the middle of Bath. The 5km and 10km are flat and fast route on and out and back, accurately measured course. The City Half Marathon and Marathon are on a looped course which takes in spectacular countryside and city centre views.

Two Tunnels 50km Ultra Solo and Relay – Take home all FOUR medals!
You can take home all four medals of the 2017 series by taking part in the Two Tunnels Ultra, by covering the distance solo or in a relay pair. For the relay option, the legs are 10km in lenth and change overs can take place as often as you like, provided they are at the 10km lap point. For example, Runner 1 runs 10km, Runner 2 runs the next 20km, Runner 1 runs 10km and Runner 2 the final 10km. The options are endless and are yours to choose and decide on the day. Solo runners and BOTH members of the relay pair will take home the medal set of medals shown below complete with the Ultra ribbons.
Two Tunnels Interlocking Medal
The old railway tunnels are 409m long and 1672m long meaning you are in for an experience like no other. The sounds of the pounding feet echoing through the tunnels have been likened to the sound of the steam trains that used to run along these tracks nearly 50 years ago!

Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate 10 years of Running Somewhere Else. A fantastic evening with music from Pluckin’ Different, BBQ from Somewhere Else, amazing disco to dance the night away and our very own cocktails. A few did manage to work their way through the Ultra, marathon, half, 10k and park run. Impressive with many managing runs Saturday morning. There is one thing for sure we know how to have fun!!!
We would like to continue to develop club members both for their own personal development and to build capacity for support in the club. One way of doing this is through the Leaders In Running Fitness Course, LIRF. 2 club members have signed up for the next course on 3rd June in Bristol. If you would like to join them, you need to act quickly. The booking deadline is 22nd May.
The cost initially to you is £140. The club will pay £70 upon receiving proof of your enrollment on the course towards the qualification. Next year at renewal time the club will then pay the remaining £70 of the cost to you.
The idea will be that you commit to helping out every 4-6 weeks within the coaching team, taking sessions.
