Didn’t know where The Pastures parkrun was so looked it up – that’s my justification for the title of the post
Pittville Park cross country
This was the 4th (and last!) race of the 25/26 series
The Pittville Park cross country course in Cheltenham is a challenging winter fixture known for its mud, short, sharp climbs, and a signature water crossing. Typically featuring a two-lap (approx. 6.5km for women) or three-lap (approx. 9.3km-10km for men) format, the course demands high concentration with frequent changes of direction and technical, wet, and muddy, hilly terrain
A fine sunny day; cool and sticky underfoot, for the last Gloucs x-country race of this season. At Pitville Park, Cheltenham with a great turnout from RSE – 18 folk in all in both women’s and men’s open category. The best showing by RSE at x-country ever. Some familiar faces, but nice to see enthusiasm from some other members too. Well done all.

We had a good RSE turnout for this XC race, at Pittville in Cheltenham. The perfect weather made for a pleasant yet strenuous run covering just under 10K. A stream crossing and plenty of mud added extra interest and challenge. My spikes gave me great confidence running through the muddiest parts of the course. Thanks to the lovely support from our ladies, especially getting us through the water!
Steve Sandercock
Steve did the course in 50.59
I’ve got to echo Steve’s last sentence – without the guidance of where to step from a couple of the ladies, I could be floating off downstream somewhere

It was a fantastic day at Pittville XC today – the sun shone and we had a huge turnout from RSE. XC is great as the two races are split so you always have teammates cheering you on! Pittville is a fun course, with a river crossing, some narrow muddy paths and undulations to keep you thinking, as well as some grassy stretches you can get a bit of pace on. I managed to come in 3 minutes quicker than last year so I was thrilled. A great day with a great team

I know this race track well . The X.Country venues do change but this one is a regular. It wasn’t as slippery as I feared even though I wasn’t wearing spikes , I felt a stone heavier on the second lap as I was carrying a lot of mud. The sun shone and we had lots of support at the water. Great fun seeing old friends I have made over the running years and also watching the men tackle 3 laps . Brutal ! Time estimated as 34.45
