RSE Club Report – Our Club is Awesome!

TCS London Marathon

As one of the most popular marathons in the world, the London marathon is notoriously hard to gain a place for. The route has remained the same since 1981, passing the city’s most famous and historic landmarks, including the Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge, Big Ben, and Buckingham Palace. Since the Covid pandemic, the London marathon has also incorporated a virtual marathon, where runners can upload and track their runs alongside the city-based version.

Despite being hard to enter, RSE has a fantastic turnout of runners, with 8 club members taking on the course and 3 running virtually!

What a great event you can see why it’s one of the best races in the world. Cutty Sark and tower bridge were stand out points.

Alan Powderhill

We ran up and down Plymvalley trail a few times and around Saltram estuary. We managed to miss the rain and where blessed with sunshine. Lots of dog walkers cheered us on. Going to go and lay down now.

Just having some food and a massage courtesy of the BHF 😁 London Marathon time was 4.32.35, a PB of 11 minutes 😃. The marathon was everything I hoped it would be, just amazing. I’m still feeling emotional!

Liz Farooq

It was a fabulous event and the crowds were amazing 🤩

Gemma Wright

Wow, what an experience that was! So many people shouting my name which kept me going. I’ve never enjoyed a race as much as today. Thank, you, London! ❤💯

Cricklade Half Marathon & 10K

These popular club races are not as flat as some club members may tell you! Starting at St. Sampson’s School in Cricklade, the first 3 miles of both routes take runners out towards the Cotswold Waterpark, before they diverge. As 10k runners head back towards the school (and up a very large hill at mile 5!), the half carries on through Ashton Keynes and South Cerney. The surprising heat of the day made it a tough run!

  • Maria Yates – 1:02:04

Nice and quiet scenic out & back loop to Ashton Keynes. Not too far off a PB but the combination of a pulled muscle in training and the last 3 miles of undulation & unexpected heat got the better of me today! Still pleased overall considering!

Elliot Gardiner

Lovely racing weather and great to see so many RSE!

Cardiff Half Marathon

Featuring some of the capital’s most famous landmarks, the Cardiff Half Marathon treats runners to a mix of beautiful scenery and historic buildings. Starting at Cardiff Castle, entrants run past the Principality and Cardiff City Stadiums, Penarth Marina, Cardiff Bay and the Norwegian Church and Wales Millennium Centre. There’s then a grandstand finish in the heart of the city at the Civic Centre!

A huge well done to the RSE members who took part!

  • Cathy Steer – 2:16:16
  • Gareth Roberts – 2:18:11
  • Linda Edwards – 2:18:25

Started at the castle. The sun came out for us. Great support all the way around and a sneaky hill at the end!
