RSE Racing Report – 12th August 2018

Bugatti 10k

13 Running Somewhere Else members took on the undulating Bugatti 10k on a cooler Wednesday evening. This was not only a RSE Championship race but also part of the AAA County Road Racing Championships so there was a strong field of athletes present. Congratulations to all who raced, particularly Dave Witnall who ran a sensible, but strong, race returning from injury and Sharon Smith for finishing first in her age category.

Tom Cooper 42:09; David Witnall 46:42; Steve Phelps 48:00; Teresa Hazelwood 48:27; Sharon Smith 49:26 (1st LV65+) Ellie Taylor 51:08; Nadine Brown 52:37; David Whitlow 52:44; Martin (Ted) Pitts 52:57; Kirsty Pitts 56:13; Sarah Page 56:34; Sandie Wood 58:46 and Amanda Tyler 1:06:05.

Well done everyone!

Standish Woodland Chase

Three wonderful RSE ladies took part in this multi-terrain race over a course of almost 10 miles on Sunday. The route follows parts of the famous Cotswold Way and includes hills, woodland trails with a bit of road, along the scenic Cotswold escarpment. Not showing any signs of tired legs, Teresa Hazlewood came in first for the club in 1:28:05 followed by Ellie Taylor in1:29:39; both having raced at Bugatti on Wednesday. Cheri Edwards finished just behind in an impressive 1:30:22 (awaiting official times). Fantastic running all!

Waterland Aquathlon

Kate Potter and Jenny Hoffmann have been busy over the last couple of weeks, not only taking part in an open water swim last weekend but then on Wednesday they took part in the Aquathlon at the Waterland lake. This was a challenging 750m open water swim (whereby both brave ladies competed without wetsuits!) followed by 4.6km run around lake 32. Fantastic work ladies!

 LDWA Birmingham Canal

Linda Edwards (and friend Susan) ran the long distance Birmingham Canal route on Saturday organised by the Long Distance Walking Association. They ran 23 of the 26.2 miles and, although not a race, provided excellent refreshments on this organised run. Good work ladies!

Some great, well deserved, PBs at parkrun this weekend.

Swindon: Martyn Joyce 20:42

Colby: Ollie Hazel 19:47

Cirencester: Martin Sheriff 24:13 (PB); Jon Collins 24:16 (PB); Wayne Edginton 25:56; Jessica Osbourne 26:44; Cathy Steer 28:30 (PB); Caroline Sandercock 37:42 and Kay Thompson 50:59.
