A friendly running club based in Cirencester!

We are Running Somewhere Else…

We are Running Somewhere Else

About the Club

A running club based in the heart of the Cotswolds, Cirencester. Our name may suggest we are hard to find, and we relocate every week. It’s actually a lot less complicated than that…

‘Running Somewhere Else’ was formed in 2007 by a small group of like minded friends who were keen on the ‘occasional’ run together. From there the club blossomed into Cirencester’s finest running club (in our opinion)!

With a friendly and inclusive attitude the club encourages everybody to take up the sport of running and welcomes adult runners (aged 18 and over) of all abilities to come along and see what we have to offer.

Come and join us – whether your interest is running for fun, friendship, getting fit, or training for anything from a 5K race to a marathon or beyond, we can help you achieve your goal and have some enjoyment along the way.

Club Nights

The club meets at the Somewhere Else bar in Cirencester on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6.30pm. Monday sessions are normally a longer run of between 5 and 7 miles. The Wednesday session is based around helping your technique using speed, hills or intervals to improve your cardio fitness and strength.

Many of the members also meet at weekends for social runs or to train for specific events.

Are we competitive?

Each year club runners compete in a series of chosen races called club races to compete within the club championship. The idea is to encourage competition, team bonding and support local events. The top ten male and female runners receive points that accumulate over the season.

Whilst we do encourage our members to take part in these races and the club championship, it is not compulsory and just coming along and running for fun is as equally encouraged.

The club is also a member of the Gloucestershire Amateur Athletics Association (AAA). The county organises its own road race championships which we actively encourage members to support.

Medals are awarded based on age categories so no matter how old or slow you think you are there’s always a chance of a prize! Running Somewhere Else is extremely proud of our success in these championships, winning Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in last year’s event!

Do we have fun?

Events throughout the year for RSE members take place in a number of different ways, usually based around team events, these really do bring us together as friends and stand for everything that is enjoyable about this sport.

Cotswold Way Relay – Teams of 10 runners complete the route from Chipping Campden to Bath.

Hope 24 and Thunder Run are similar endurance events – Teams must complete as many laps of the course as they can within a 24hr period.

We organise evening runs and weekend runs, both on and off road, and ‘away days’ to add a little mystery and adventure in our runs. We have a great social calendar including running treasure hunts, quiz nights, bowling, BBQs and running weekends away.

Come along on a Monday or Wednesday night and see for yourself…!
