RSE Race Report – 9th December 2018

Santa Run at Sudeley Castle

The Santa Run at Sudeley Castle, Winchcombe was held on the morning of Sunday 9th December, 2018 and included a muddy and wet 1 lap 8k (approx), a 1 lap 5k (approx) plus an all ages and abilities 1k and a 5 and under’s 50m dash.

Located in the heart of the Cotswolds, Sudeley Castle & Gardens has played an important role in England’s history for over 1,000 years.  The castle is surrounded by a breathtaking, 1,200 acre estate with a backdrop of rolling Cotswold Hills, green fields and woodland breaks making the vast Sudeley Estate the perfect venue for the Santa Run.

Representing RSE was Sandie Wood who completed the 8k race in 1:01:16.  She was followed by;

Tracy Webster – 1:05:22

Amanda Haines – 1:13:09

Kay Thompson – 1:23:10

Gloucestershire AAA Cross Country Race Wotton-under-Edge

The third race in the Gloucestershire AAA cross country league took place on Sunday 9th December at Wotton-under-Edge.
The race was described as taking place on roughly mown grassland however this also included some water and mud.

The ladies route was 2 lap event covering 6.4k.

Representing RSE was Sharon Smith who completed the race in 30:52 coming first in the LV65 category.  She was followed by;

Ellie Taylor – 31:10

Elaine Chapman – 32:38

Kate Potter – 39:21

The ladies team came 24th overall.

The men’s route was 3 lap event covering 9.6k.

Representing RSE was Dave Witnall who completed the race in 41:38.  He was followed by;

Ben Chapman – 45:18

RSE Race Report – 2nd December 2018

Bromham Pudding Run

The Pudding Run was a 10k race run around the Wiltshire village of Bromham on Sunday 2nd December.  The 2-lap circular course was flat and regularly produces PBs for runners of all abilities.

Not only did all finishers receive a medal they were also presented a Christmas pudding.

Representing RSE was Kevin Joynes-Creed who took an impressive 2 minutes 30 seconds of his previous PB to complete the race in 49:51.  His first sub 50 minute 10k.  He was followed by;

Caroline Joynes-Creed – 1:09:48

Kay Thompson – 1:15:11

RSE Race Report – 25th November 2018

Cattle Country Dark Skies 10k

On Wednesday 22nd November The Cattle Country Dark Skies race took place.  This was a 10k multi terrain event  at Cattle Country Adventure Park, Berkeley where head torches were compulsory.

 

Representing RSE was Richard Marshall who completed the race in 1:17:38.  He was followed by;

Sarah Gray – 1:17:43

Tracey Edgington –  1:17:48

Kay Thompson – 1:27:35

The AVR Half Marathon

The AVR (Avon Valley Runners) Half Marathon took place on Sunday 25th November.  This was a road race starting in Edgington that took in the beautiful villages of Steeple Ashton and Great Hinton, Wiltshire.

Representing RSE was Dave Witnall who completed the race in 1:31:33.  He was followed by;

RSE Race Report – 18th November 2018

The Dirt Half Marathon

The Dirt Half Challenge took place on Saturday 17th November 2018.  The race started in Leighton Buzzard and followed the canal towpath north to Stoke Hammond with stunning views, climbs through beautiful countryside to Great Brickhill then through the scenic Stockgrove Country Park before following the Greensand Ridge back to the start via the canal towpath.

Representing RSE was Elaine Chapman who completed the race in 2:10:54.

The Castle Combe Chilly 10k

On Sunday 18th November the Castle Combe Chilly 10k took place.  This was a 10k multi lap event run over the flat, smooth, running surface of the famous Castle Combe race circuit suitable for beginners and experienced runners alike.

First in for RSE was Dave Witnall in 40:12.  This was a SB and his fastest 10k in 3 1/2 years.  He was followed by;

Jonathan Lewis – 45:55

Ellie Taylor – 47:07 and a PB

Rosie Oates – 48:14 which was her first sub 50 minute 10k

Kay Thompson – 1:14:19.  Although not a PB it was an improvement of 5:12 from when she raced the same route in February

Swindon 10k

The Swindon 10k took place on Sunday 18th November.  Starting at the Wroughton Go Kart Centre this was a 2 lap fast and flat course along country lanes.  During the second lap a loose horse joined the race which was a great incentive to run a bit faster.

First in for RSE was Andy Masser in 45:03.  He was followed by;

Paul Coates – 48:29 and a SB

Kirsty Pitts – 50:37 and a SB

Ted (Martin) Pitts – 50:37

Becca Wilson – 58:31 and a PB

Broadway Trail Half Marathon

 

On Sunday 18th November the Broadway Half Marathon offered runners the opportunity to challenge themselves amid the stunning scenery of the northern Cotswolds.  Starting and finishing in the scenic Broadway village, the route followed trails and roads among picturesque villages, woodlands, and, most importantly, hills. The majority of the course was trail or unpaved track with a few minor road sections included where necessary.

First in for RSE was Cheri Edwards in 2:30:54.  She was followed by:

Lindsay Gregory – 2:41:37

Vicki Mason – 2:46:51

Sutton Benger 5 mile Flyer

The Sutton Benger 5 mile flyer took place on Sunday 18th November.  The race was described as a super flat, super-fast, out and back road race starting and finishing at Sutton Benger Village Hall looping past the historic Kellaways Bridge.

Representing RSE was Mark Manley who completed the race in 33:33.
