RSE Racing Report – 21st January 2018

229 people ran in this extremely popular 5 mile race which consists of 2 laps and forms part of the Gloucestershire AAA Road Race Series. First in for the club was Russel Young 31:14 followed by Dave Witnall 35:27 and Laura Butler 56:07. Great running all!

In his first ever 10k race Tom Cooper ran a fantastic 41:57. Not the most interesting of races, the route consisted of 9 laps of a track followed by 5 laps of a park due to the weather. The volunteers and marshals were fab however! Well done Tom!

Running Somewhere Else Running Club is pleased to announce its Beginners Running Program starting on the 9th April 2018. This 8 week program is designed to introduce newcomers to running in a fun, friendly and structured manner. The course provides twice weekly coaching sessions, on a Monday and Wednesday, which will help you begin and improve your running techniques, avoid injuries and even take part in your first race (if you feel ready)!

You need not have run before. Come and join our social running group designed for any size, shape and ability. See what running can do for you.

RSE Racing Report – 14th January 2018

A big well done to the 8 of you who participated in Parkruns on Saturday; results as follows:

Parkruns

Swindon: Jonathan Lewis 24:45; Steve Sandercock 26:54; Martyn Joyce 28:51 and Caroline Sandercock 35:54.

Chippenham: Laura Butler 36:42.

Pomphrey Hill: Jack Pitcher 20:57 (Course PB); Emily Jefferies 25:19.

Hove Promenade: Amelia Culshaw 21:46.

So, a quiet racing weekend but wonderful to see many RSE members running together and getting those training miles in on Saturday morning. Linda Franks 5 Mile race next weekend, good luck to all those taking part.

RSE Racing Report – January 7th 2018

Kelston Trail 10k(ish!)

221 runners took on Kelston Trail 10k on Sunday 7th January. Described by Aspire Running Events as a challenging multi-terrain route through extensive woodland, scenic trails, permissive footpaths and open fields; further described by RSE Member Richard Marshall as a not so lovely big hill at the start! Well done Richard in achieving 1:14:30.

 

Gloucestershire AAA Cross Country: Old Down Country Park

Ollie Hazel finished in the top 50 in this highly competitive championship on Saturday 6th January in a time of 39:18. Great work Ollie!

 

Gloucester 10 Mile

Cheri Edwards celebrated on New Years Eve by racing this mainly flat rural course which included two loops with a leg out and back. Congratulations to Cheri, who completed the race in 1:35:48 (PB), and new Member Lindsay Gregory 1:38:37 (PB). Very impressive results in their first 10 mile race.
