RSE Club Report – Trails, large scale and coattails!

Chedworth Roman Trail

Hosted by Cirencester Athletics Club, the Chedworth Roman Trail is a local 10 mile-ish single lap of scenic Cotswold countryside. The route takes runners through Stowell Park, the Coln Valley, and close to the famous Chedworth Roman Villa. It is a challenging multi-terrain race that uses a variety of undulating tracks, footpaths, fields, and features a river crossing. This year it also features in the Running Somewhere Else Championship.

Congratulations to the following runners:

  • Mark Garrett 1:26:59
  • Paul Robertson 1:27:58
  • Jo Beames 1:37:00
  • Jo Wood 1:41:36
  • Kevin Joynes-Creed 1:47:37

Forest Runner 5 & 10k

Held and organised by Westonbirt, the National Arboretum, the profits from Forest Runner sales help to grow, shape and care for the local forest, now and for future generations. Both the 5k and 10k routes offer spectacular views of the Arboretum, with one of the world’s finest botanical collections of trees and shrubs.

Taking on the 10k option were both Anne and Jess, well done to you both.

  • Anne Gardiner – 55:10 (unofficial time)
  • Jessica James – 55:52 (unofficial time) – New PB!

It’s a beautiful setting. We were offered black ribbons and there was a 2 minute silence.

Anne Gardiner

So it’s been a double PB weekend with a PB parkrun yesterday and PB 10k at Westonbirt. Garmin says 55.52 so somewhere thereabout! Feedback on westonbirt; a lovely single loop through the woods with a killer hill at 5k!

Great North Run

60,000 determined and dedicated runners make the Great North Run the World’s biggest and best half marathon – famous for its warm North East welcome, unbeatable atmosphere and the millions raised for good causes. This year the run returned to it’s original route, finishing in South Shields. Amongst the thousands taking part was RSEs Charlie Austin.

I’ve just done the Great North Run. Lovely sunny day in Newcastle with fab support along the route from the locals. Rather slow time but I managed to scrape in under 3hrs! Also received some really lovely messages from club members which were very much appreciated 🥰
