RSE Club Report – A Marathon and 3 Halves!

London Landmarks Half Marathon

If you fancy a tour of London, the Landmarks Half Marathon is highly recommended, taking in some of the most iconic sites across the city. Runners are treated to views of St Paul’s Cathedral, Nelson’s Column, Big Ben, The London Eye as well as the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. Notorious for it’s incredible atmostphere, the race is organised by baby charity, Tommy’s and raises a lot of money for good causes.

Congratulations to Paul Robertson who finished the course in 1:48:07!

It was amazing. Its my favourite race of the year. A little slower for me than last year but that just meant more time to savour the encouragement of all the charities and the street bands and performers. It’s just so much fun.

Manchester Marathon

A go-to for club members, the Manchester Marathon boasts a fast and flat route supported by lively and friendly crowds that make for an excellent race atmosphere. The 26.2 mile race begins at Emirates Old Trafford Cricket ground before taking runners through the city centre, past Sale and Timperley and then out towards Altrincham. Challengers then make the long run back to the start.

The Manchester Marathon is the 4th largest marathon in Europe and the UK’s flattest!

Running for RSE was Jon Collins, who ran with his niece to finish in a brilliant time of 4:54:50! Well done to Jon and his niece!

Rutland Spring Half Marathon

The Rutland Spring Half Marathon is scenic race that takes place along Rutland water and around Hambleton Peninsula. Starting and finishing at Barnsdale Wood, the course is a mix of undulating tarmac and trail, boasting unrivalled views of the countryside.
