RSE Club Report – PBs, Category placings, and a very tough marathon!

Cranhams Boundary Chase

Part of the annual Cranham feast, the Boundary Chase is a 5.6 mile race across an undulating country road course. The run is also part of the Gloucestershire AAA race series.

Representing RSE were members Nia Glover and Sharon Smith, who both put in fantastic performances!

It was a 5.6 mile undulating course on roads around Cranham, with a killer hill at the start and finish but also lots of long downhills to get the speed up. It was a beautiful setting around the valley and through Cranham Woods.

Nia Glover
  • Nia Glover – 40:46 – 1st lady overall!
  • Sharon Smith – 45:35 – 1st in category!

This also puts Nia in first place so far in the Ladies-Open category for the Gloucestershire AAA Road Race series!

Exceptional running by both Nia and Sharon.

Round the Rock Marathon

You know a race will be tough when the website says that trail shoes are mandatory, and the Round the Rock marathon delivers on the intensity levels. Hugging the coast of Jersey, the route takes runners form the North Coast cliff paths, through St Ouen’s Bay and then to the South Coast at St Brelades and St Aubins.

RSE member Vicki Mason took to the course, finishing in a brilliant time of 5:56:48, coming in under her target!

The route is stunning but challenging with over 2000ft of elevation in the marathon, made all the more challenging with 37kt headwinds and driving rain for most of the day.

Vicki Mason

An absolutely brilliant achievement, Vicki, well done!
