RSE Race Report – Sunday 11th August 2019

The Bugatti 10k

The Bugatti 10k took place on Wednesday 7th August. The race which started and finished at the Prescott Hill Climb Headquarters, went through the villages of Dixton, Alstone and Gretton Fields and involved a mixture of scenic quiet country roads and an undulating course. It was also part of the Gloucestershire AAA’s series.

Representing RSE was Elisabeth Butler who completed the race in 54:04. She was followed by;

Sarah Page – 54:33 an improvement of 2 minutes from last year.

Great running from you both.

Cotswold Standard Triathlon

The Cotswold Standard Triathlon took place on Saturday 10th August. The event included a 1500m swim in Lake 62 in Ashton Keynes. This was made harder by the weather conditions that resulted in choppy water and to add to it the lake was full of weeds. Once the swim was finished competitors completed the cycle stage which was 36k reduced from 40k due to the weather. This involved cycling a 3 lap course through Ashton Keynes, Siddington and Somerford Keynes. The race finished with a 6 lap trail course totalling 9k long around the lake.

Representing RSE was Ted Pitts who completed the race in 2:37. This gave him first place in his age group. He was followed by Kirsty Pitts who completed the race in 3:14.

Fantastic effort from you both.

Salisbury 54321 Trail Runs

The Salisbury 5-4-3-2-1 walk, or trail run took place on Sunday 11th August. The event suited all the family, with a choice of distances from 5km to the more demanding 42k/Marathon, or even a 50k Ultra Marathon. The routes were over footpaths, bridle ways and quiet country roads in the Salisbury Wessex area. The walk/trail runs, took runners past a variety of sites of historical and scientific interest and through Country Estates not usually open to the general public. This was made possible by the kind permission of several landowners along the route and including English Heritage.

Representing RSE was Sharon Smith who completed the half marathon distance in an unofficial time of 2:04 coming first in the LV65 category.

Well done Sharon
