A friendly running club based in Cirencester!

RSE Racing Report – 7th May 2018

Two Tunnels Half

‘Relish Running Races’ organise a range of different half marathon events over the summer varying in terrain. Jonathan Lewis was among 278 runners to take on the ‘Return Ticket’; a two lap out and back course along the Two Tunnels Greenway path. Well done to Jon, who took advantage of it being lovely and cool in the long tunnel, achieving a time of 1:48:03. Awesome!

Original Mountain Marathon (OMM)

The OMM Lite was held over Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th May in the Forest of Dean. Competitors have to find as many checkpoints as they can in their allocated time, each having different values and the highest score wins. Martin Sheriff and Jessica Osbourne took on the orienteering, covering 18 miles in 5 hours on Saturday to achieve a fantastic 11th place at the halfway point. Sunday saw them complete 14 miles in 4 hours, Martin disappointingly admitting, “I may have got us lost!” Still, it was an impressive 27th place finish, having collected 480 points in 8:30:10 over 32 miles! Great work guys and maybe worth considering for a social RSE weekend away next year?!

Oxford Greenbelt 10k

This friendly, fundraising, off-road 10k was held on Saturday in the Oxfordshire countryside. It welcomes runners, joggers and walkers and this year raised money for a group of Scouts to go to the 2019 World Scout Jamboree. Elspeth Murano took part in this worthwhile cause; well done, Elspeth!

parkrun

Lovely to see a few RSE members at parkrun for the first time this weekend making the most of the sunshine:

Richmond: Pauline Tilbury (1st timer) 34:30.

Cirencester: Nadine Brown 25:01(PB); Emma Hine (1st timer) 29:11; Sandie Wood (1st timer) 29:45; Cathy Steer (1st timer) 33:23; Amy Breakspear 35:01; Guillermo Tomac 36:14 (PB); Charlie Trykysh 38:19 and Jesica Masseilot 46:14.

Well done all runners, racers and volunteers this sunny bank holiday weekend!
