Gloucestershire AAA – County Road Race Series

Gloucestershire AAA – County Road Race Series

For those of you that are not aware of the Glos AAA:

The Series is an annual series of road races open to all first and second claim runners who are fully paid up members of a Gloucestershire AAA affiliated club, which includes Running Somewhere Else. Awards are presented at the end of the year to individuals as well as teams. There is an Open category and five-year age categories for the older runner. These categories exist for senior men and senior ladies with the masters age categories starting at V40 for men and V35 for ladies. Each category represents a separate competition. All runners are eligible for the appropriate Open category with the master runner additionally eligible for their age category. The Series consists of 12 open races nominated by the Glos AAA Road Race Committee covering a variety of distances.

I wanted to promote this series as, following Gloucester 20 at the weekend, it has been highlighted how fantastic you all are at RSE. Glos 20 was the third race in the series and many RSE members have scored points within this championship:

Graham Aitchinson 7 points in the V40;

Mark Manley 9 points; Dave Daniels 6 points and Andy Masser 4 points in the V50;

Nadine Brown 7 points in the Open Category;

Elaine Chapman 9 points in the V35 Category;

Emma Hine 7 points in the V40 Category;

Amanda Tyler 5 points in the V45 Category.

Previously, Sarah Reynolds, Sharon Smith and Russell Young have also scored following fantastic races at Linda Franks and Staverton 10.

So overall, currently Sharon holds 1st place in V65, our very own Club Captain Elaine holds 1st place in V35 and Russell Young 4th in V45! Amazing achievements considering this is a county wide road race series comprising of 15 other affiliated clubs.

If you want to get involved and enter the remaining races it is advised to enter ASAP as most races sell out.
