Humph’s Hilly Half
Run every year as part of the Gloucestershire AAA Road Race Series, and again as part of the RSE Club Championship, this race sees runners start and finish in Bourton-on-the-Water and take in the villages of Clacton-on-the-Hill, Sherborne, Windrush, Great Barrington and Great Rissington. This year’s warm weather made this hilly race even more challenging!
First in for the club was Matt Lambourne in 1:37:12, followed by Mark Manley, 1:48:37; Ollie Hazel, 01:48:38; Emily Jefferies, 01:53:33; Jon Lewis, 02:05:45; Ben Thomson, 02:07:13; Elaine Chapman, 02:07:26; Nadine Brown, 02:12:43 and Jess Osborne, 02:15:12.
Cirencester Park Summer Sizzler 10K
Wednesday evening saw this year’s edition of the Cirencester Park Summer Sizzler 10K. First in for the club this year was Graham Aitchison, 48:56; followed by Elaine Chapman, 51:11; Laurie Aitchison, 52:53; Tim Hodgetts, 54:50; Berna Berntzen, 55:45; Richard Marshall, 56:04; Phil Scoble, 56:25; Janet Daniels, 57:19; Pauline Tilbury, 1:05:48; Kate Potter, 01:06:04 and Laura Butler, 01:10:42.
Wednesday also saw this year’s edition of the Lethbridge 10K that starts and finishes at Croft in Old Town, Swindon and takes runners along the old railways line footpath to a loop around Rushy Platt before heading back. First finisher for the club was Martin Pitts, 47:20; followed by Teresa Hazelwood, 51:00; Kirsty Pitts, 55:32; Paul Coates, 59:10; Caroline Coates, 1:03:39, Sallie Clatworthy, 01:04:01 and Tracey Pitts, 01:33:39.
Those that ventured to Cheltenham Racecourse on Sunday morning did so in the searing heat that only rose as the morning went on, making the trail event even more challenging that the name suggested! Our runners took part in two of the events on offer, firstly at 10am those doing the Half Marathon set off. First in for the club was Andy Masser, 1:58:45; followed by Jenny Hoffman, 3:47:15; Louise Abbott and Kate Potter, both 3:47:17.
They were followed at 10:30am by those taking part in the 10K. First in for the club was Matt Lambourne, 1:00:17; followed by Cat Shelley, 1:10:23; Elspeth Murano, 1:16:35 and Pauline Tilbury, 1:25:15.
South Downs Trail Marathon
Saturday saw the running of the South Downs Trail Marathon starting at Slindon College, and joins the South Downs Way at 5.5 Miles and heads westward back to Queen Elizabeth Country Park. Two of our runners ran this race, first in for the club was Amelia Culshaw in 4:12:23 followed by Seth Ford in 4:10:30.
