This Week’s Racing 11th June 2016


Another fantastic summer race, and I think enjoyed by all who competed??!!  A tough hilly course starting from Bourton on the Water and then taking the runners on a 13.1 mile gorgeous scenic route of the surrounding villages.  A warm Saturday evening bought 10 RSE runners who were among 136 other competitors to Bourton on the Water to run in the Humph’s Hilly Half.  First home for the club was Russell Young who finished in 1.32.48, followed by John Buck 1.33.31, Oliver Hazell 1.35.39, Matt Lambourne 1.39.14, Elaine Chapman 150.54 (2nd LV35), Martin Pitts 1.52.28, Jonathan Lewis 1.52.52, Amelia Culshaw 1.55.00, Kirsty Pitts 1.58.23 (2nd LV45) and Nadine Brown 2.04.22 (1st Half Marathon!).  The ladies – Elaine, Amelia and Kirsty also managed to secure 3rd place in the ladies teams. Well done to all of you – brilliant running.
We cannot forget the incredible support we had from some of the ladies at RSE it was truly amazing and gave us all a push to keep going – thank you so much and Whoop Whoop to you all!!!!

Brilliant results from Mark Manley on Wednesday evening at the Chase the Sun Hyde Park 10k, even though it was a hot and humid evening 393 runners competed, well done to Mark who finished in 42.54.
This weekend RSE’s Henry Church competed in the South Downs Way 100 mile ultra marathon.  The multi terrain race started at Chilcomb Cricket Ground near Winchester and then took the runners 100 miles along along the South Downs Way, taking in the gorgeous countryside of the National trail.  Congratulations to Henry who completed this gruelling challenge in 20hrs 54 mins.
Swindon – Dave Witnall 19.42, Martyn Joyce 20.49, Ben Chapman 22.24, Steve Sandercock 24.26, Cat Shelley 26.54, Ellie Taylor 27.40 (PB), Mark Manley 27.48, Claire Joyce 28.07, Caroline Sandercock 31.33 and Elspeth Murano 46.54.
Plus a special mention goes to an incredible young boy Zack Manley who managed to knock a massive 2 and half minues off his 5k PB and finished in 27.47!  He also ran in the Junior 2k Parkrun on Sunday and came 2nd overall in a time of 9.13 another PB!  Well done Zack brilliant results keep it up!

Chipping Sodbury – Richard Marshall 27.16.
Milton Keynes – Pete Whitmore 34.35.
