As we near the end of the 2015 championship with only 3 races to go, I know that you are now all thinking to next year’s championship and what races we are going to run… so here is the list!
Next year, the championship is changing and focusing on road races between January and November with a fair distribution over a variety of distances to cater for all runners. The championship will therefore be won by the best all round competitor and not just by those who excel over one distance. The championship now consists of:
3 races that are 5 miles
4 races that are 10 K
5 races that are 10 to 20 miles
1 race that is a Marathon
Full details of the scoring system and minimum number of races will follow. Details of the races, entry websites and costs (based on costs this year) can be found on the championship 2016 link.
The line up for the 2016 championship is as follows:
1. Linda Franks 5 Mile
2. Wiltshire 10 Mile
3. Bourton 10k
4. Gloucester 20 Mile
5. Highworth 5 Mile
6. Berkeley 10k
7. Bourton Hilly Half
8. Frampton 10k
9. Chippenham Half Marathon
10. Cirencester 10k
11. Cricklade Half Marathon
12. Tewkesbury 5 Mile
13. Any Marathon
Three of the first four races are now open for entry, so now is the time to start entering the championship. The Linda Franks 5 miles has only 250 places and 83 have already gone, so please enter soon to ensure that you get a place!
Also please note that race 3, the Bourton 10k, is a very popular race and will sell out very quickly. This year it sold out in a few hours, so if you want to enter please check the race entry site regularly to catch the race opening.
Finally, good luck to all of those who enter the 2016 Championship!
