There was a lot of information to get across during the stretches last night, so I thought I would collate all of the information here as well in case you missed anything.
HI-VIZ / SAFETY
It was great to come along yesterday and see so many of you wearing your hi-visibility clothing, long may this continue as we are now running in the dark. Also advisable to consider purchasing a head-torch, especially if you run alone outside of club runs.
On a more important note, please can you stick to pavements as we are now running completely in an urban environment and continue to take care when crossing roads when necessary; the reputation of the club is at stake, let’s keep it a good reputation!
TURN PARKRUN YELLOW
On Saturday 1st November we are intending to turn Swindon parkrun yellow with as many of our RSE vests / t-shirts as possible. I know some are racing in the cross country later on in the day, so I’ll let that slide, but it would be great to have as many representatives from the club there as possible, as well as our beginners. It is a timed 5k run, and not a race, with the full range of abilities (lack of elites in Swindon) and a great opportunity over the 5k distance for us all to come together to welcome our new members into the fold. If you have not registered, then you can using the following link http://www.parkrun.org.uk/register and then all you need to do is print off your barcode that you are e-mailed (I would save your profile page to your favourites) and remember to bring it with you on the Saturday morning. I am already looking forward to it!
The Halloween party takes place on Saturday 8th November at the Wheatsheaf, 7:30pm ’til late, dress up if you wish for just £5 entry! If you have not already bought tickets, please do so asap by signing up on the sheet that’ll sit next to the signing out and in form at club sessions.
Some have been asking about the potential of another team for the 2015 Hope24 that takes place near Plymouth from 9th-10th May. If you are interested please let Tracey know so we can look at the feasibility of entering another team, the more the merrier!
If you are new member who has not yet received their club vest, do not panic, an order has been made, but the suppliers can take up to six weeks to deliver, and we are currently half way through. As soon as we receive them Wayne will be dishing them out!
As we are an affiliated club you will receive your affiliation card through the post having joined the club. Again, this can take a little while to come through, but rest assured they will do, England Athletics aren’t always the quickest when it comes to these!
I think that covers everything from last night – I’m looking forward to being back as part of the group properly in a couple of weeks time.
