Rome Marathon

Well its finally done and some fantastic results especially from the  ”Marathon Virgins”.

Report:
Seventeen RSE runners were amongst the 19000 who travelled to Rome for the Marathon last weekend. The route which was set by the tourist board started and finished at the Colosseum and  took runners past all the main sights including the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps and St Peters Square. Well done to Sally Jamieson, Caroline Terry, Caroline and Paul Coates, Jo Weavin and Jasmine Hebden who ran the distance for the first time. First to finish for the club was John Buck in training for the Comrades in South Africa finished in 3.31.25. Congratulations to Sharon Smith who finished first for the ladies in 3.59.12 and 3rd in her age category.
 Well done to Sharon Rastelli , 4.03.12 who smashed her marathon PB by 36 minutes and Jon Collins, 4.31.02 who also achieved his PB. Laura Maddison using the race as a taper for the Marathon Des Sables finished in 4.45.47.

  1. Thanks for the report Tracey. It was a great race and I really enjoyed training with everyone – What was a bit of rain in Rome when we’d battled through the floods of Gloucestershire! Well done everyone!

  2. Going to miss the training although the plan is to continue the Saturday Morning runs (and the scrummy Somewhere Else breakfasts ) !
    Budapest next !! October 2015……. and they do a relay of 3 or 5 runners.
